Social / Skills

Social Activity groups comprise evening activity sessions, activity days or residential weekends, where volunteers and/or paid staff assist children and young adults who are within the autistic spectrum.  The group usually consists of approximately 6 volunteers/staff and 6-8 children/young people with Autism Spectrum Condition.  The activities can help the young people learn how to cope in social situations and thus build their self-confidence.

We have various activities ranging from very active things such as canoeing, orienteering, abseiling and cycling, through to more gentle ones such as swimming, soft play or walking. Group activities help young people to learn social skills, help them learn to co-operate with others.

Activities take place at a variety of venues throughout Derbyshire.  Groups and activities are arranged according to the age and needs of the young people who will be participating.
